About Us

A Scottish Wedding Band with a Quirky, Little Twist.

So, you’ve just got engaged and you’re now looking for the perfect band to play at your wedding. [or Corporate event, we do them too.] You now have to dive head first in to the sea of Scottish Wedding Bands available. If you’ve been shopping around, by now you’ve probably seen about 935,267,302 videos of wedding bands playing all of the same songs. There’s Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, 1000 renditions of [insert current most popular pop song here] and that horrible Le Chic creature that has been residing at weddings for a long time now. Enough to give even the most hardy soul a nosebleed.

You’ve probably been schmoozed with pictures of manic, impossibly happy looking people in matching suits, the colour of Tie/Shirt/Waistcoat combination changes per band, and in their “About Us” every single one of them has claimed to be, “Scotland’s Busiest Wedding Band!”, “Scotlands Most In Demand Wedding Band!” or “Scotland’s Best Wedding Band!” and you’re starting to think, “Well, they cant all be. Strike me down, dear! Someone must be telling us fibs!”

Next cue the long winded passage about how immensely talented they all are. “Blah, blah, blah, with a touch of blah, blah blah!” It all starts to leave you thinking, “Isn’t this supposed to be about me?”

Yes, dear friend, it is supposed to be all about you. Your wedding is your big day. Your chance to throw a celebration that showcases and celebrates both of you and your…’youness’ together. Do you really want the same cheesy, cardboard Wedding Band everyone else has? You want something that makes a statement. Something that’s bold. Different. Something you and all your guests will remember.

Please permit us to humbly present our offerings. At Splendid Gentlemen, we like to do things a little differently. We see ourselves very much as the Anti Wedding Band. We appreciate the subtle difference between a ‘Band that plays weddings’ and a ‘Wedding Band’ and try our hardest to steer clear of as many of the cheesy things as we can that make you think, “By gum, dear! These bands have more cheddar than a collection of mouse traps. Let’s just hire ourselves a Disk Jockey instead.”

Our repertoire boasts all the songs a wedding band is expected to do, because you know your Auntie Jean will ask for it, but we like to cover everything form the 1950’s right up to current chart songs, as well as offering a host of alternative songs you never thought you could have at your wedding, like Metallica, Foo Fighters or The Offspring.

We don’t like to brag, and we’d never make an outrageous claim to be “Scotlands Best Wedding Band”, though you’d be hard pressed to find a more Gentlemanly one. We do however, now have some  prestigious awards for our services. We were voted Confetti Award ‘Best Evening Entertainer 2016’, a finalist for the Confetti Award in 2018 and 2019, Winner of the Highly Recommended 2nd Place in 2020, Winner of Highly Recommended 2nd Place in 2022 and Aspire Magazines ‘Alternative Entertainer 2017’, and yes, we think that’s totally a made up category by Aspire too, but it was still nice to receive.

If you’re looking for something a little different to bring your wedding to life, please feel free to give us a message or a call. We are rather friendly chaps after all.

Pleased to meet you. We are Splendid Gentlemen.

Maggie's Rock n Rodeo

16 March, 21:00

Venue: Maggie's Rock n Rodeo, Glasgow

Date: Saturday, 16th March, 2024

Time: 9:00pm - 11:00pm

Typical Set: Rock, Pop, Country, Americana

Disclaimer:

While we'd love for you to come and see us live, please keep in mind that this is a pub gig and very much not a wedding showcase. The set we will be playing in Maggie's Rock n Rodeo is designed to suit the venue, as well as giving us the chance to play a lot of the repertoire that we don't get to play as often at weddings. So please feel free to come along and see us to get a feel for what we sound like, but know that we won't be playing any of the "Wedding Classics" like we would at a wedding.

  • Words aren’t enough to describe these guys, they are professional, friendly, funny and know how to keep a dance floor full all night long!! If you are thinking about booking do it now you honestly will not regret it!! They catered to our crowd as it was very mixed and were fab with the guests and taking requests playing everything from Steps to Tenacious D (insane btw) and Green Day. We had compliments all night long.

“We recently hired Splendid Gentlemen for our wedding in St Andrews and we thought they were absolutely fantastic! The dance floor was never empty as they played a great mix of both recent and classic songs (and a few left field requests ) that appealed to all generations. Our guests all commented on how good they were. Not only are they excellent musicians but they were always prompt and professional when responding to any emails in the run up to our wedding. The dance floor wasn’t big enough for everybody! Thank you for making our wedding reception unforgettable.”

We booked this band from reading their great reviews and listening to them online – and we are so glad we did! From booking them right up until the end of the wedding night they were faultless, and we would 100% recommend them to anyone who wants a night of dancing!”

“The Splendid Gentlemen are a top tier wedding band. Professional but fun, with a huge back catalogue of tracks, and above all else, very talented musicians. We booked them on reviews alone, then saw them for the first time at a pub in Glasgow the week before our big day. They were just superb; taking requests and the vibe of the crowd in their stride, and seeming to adapt their set lists to make the best night out for everyone there. We highly recommend!”

  • “Absolutely fantastic night. Cat fight broke out and they even started playing Eye of the Tiger for them, before they got thrown out! :) Great craic, well dressed and talented. Will be booking them again for sure!”
